Hi everyone!!
I usually don't wait til the last minute to make a Mother's Day card but I fell behind a little this year.
I went to Archiver's to look for some new scrapbook paper I could use. They have new papers constantly so I was able to find paper by Authentique, the Blissful Collection, "Paradise" (yellow patterned), & Journey Collection "Explore" (blue patterned paper) & Bo Bunny's Powder Blue Vintage (Light Blue) & Yellow Dot cardstock. I also used Coredinations Vintage Collection, Rivulet (the paper that covers the card) & CoreEssentials Collection, Lake (dark dark blue).
The Cricut cartridge I used was Home Accents. This card is a good example why I use Cricut's Design Studio software. I had to make sure that each of the die cuts would fit on my 6.5 x 5 inch card base. It only took 5 minutes to get them sized up. Thank goodness cause it took a long time to put it all togethor. Other die cuts I used were Spellbinder's Deckled Edge and Foliage.
DECKLED EDGE
I typed out "Happy Mother's Day" on my computer and took the Deckled Edge die cuts and my Cuttlebug and cut it out with White Cardstock. I then cut out a larger Deckled in Core'dinations "Lake" paper. I needed a dark color to contrast the light colors of the patterned papers I used. I added blue gems from The Paper Studio.
FOLIAGE DIE CUTS
Lately I've been cutting out the Foliage die cuts using parts of a cereal box. If i'm cutting out a leaf or a branch I want it to be thicket than a piece of scrapbook paper. It looks more realistic. FIRST, I cut the shape out with the cereal box using my Cuttlebug. SECOND, I paint them white with my paint dabber. THIRD, after they dry, which takes 2 mins, is color them with Peeled Paint Distress Ink. If you're wondering why I paint them white is because cereal boxes are dark brown and if you don't....no matter what color ink you put on it.... it will stay dark. Even if you applied a white ink pad you would never see it. SPELLBINDER SANDWICH: You can use the same "sandwich" for cereal boxes as you would regular cardstock.
I attached the 2 Foliage die cuts to the 2 crocheted flowers using a glue gun. I found the flowers at Archiver's as well. I got 6 of them for $4.49. (I used my 30 % off coupon for that one.) I also stuck a button on top.
LASTLY, THE CUT FILE, for this card, CAN BE FOUND AT http://www.mediafire.com/?fqek4833vh23xlh
I guess that's about it for this years Mother's Day card creation. I hope she likes it.
Take care everyone and have yourself a great Mother's Day!
Heather
